In 2005, the Cancun Convention & Visitors Bureau was ready to revive their Tourism Institute to include online learning with a proven success rate. They chose Destination Ventures to produce an online campus, FAM Trip program and Loyalty Program as part of the Tourism Institute’s broader travel agent engagement strategy. Due to its success, they again contracted Destination Ventures in 2006 and 2007 to amend and enhance the program on an ongoing basis. In 2006, the World Heritage Alliance, a partnership between Expedia Inc. and the United Nations Foundation, hired Destination Ventures to develop both live seminar and online learning programs focused on Mexico’s World Heritage sites. The programs were tailored to empower World Heritage Alliance members and tourism industry partners to promote sites to visitors, while learning to adopt responsible, sustainable tourism practices. The Puerto Vallarta Tourism Board contracted Destination Ventures in 2007 to create a three-tier specialist program for travel agents. Called “PV Pro”, the program includes a Study Course, “El Día De” Inspection Trip and Perk Points program and was designed expose even experienced sellers of Puerto Vallarta to its finer selling points and subtle nuances. In fall of 2006, Destination Ventures was hired by the Acapulco Convention & Visitors Bureau to create an online learning campus specifically designed to help re-introduce Acapulco to a new generation of travel agents and consumers. Offered in both English and Spanish, Acapulco Academy’s Study Course provides a comprehensive review of Acapulco’s sights, attractions, tours, and accommodations – both old and brand new. Since 1992 Destination Ventures has designed and executed live travel agent training events for the Mexico Tourism Board (SECTUR). In 2006, seeing the myriad of benefits in online learning, the MTB hired Destination Ventures to create an accredited online campus.
